Community of Kukama: Visit the native community of Kukama and learn about their customs, ancestral traditions, their music and dances.

Monkey Island: An animal rescue centre where different species of monkeys and other animals are rescued, rehabilitated and reinserted into their natural habitat.

Yagua native community:  Visit the local community where the local leader will kindly welcome you and show you around. Put your aim into practice with the launch of ´Pucuna´, a blowgun that local inhabitants still use to hunt their food.

Planting Ceremony: Before leaving, participate in a planting ceremony, collaborating with the reforestation of the jungle.

Piranha Fishing: Piranha fishing offers an exhilarating adventure where you can catch these notorious fish in their natural Amazonian habitat.

Amazon Sunrise & Sunsets: Experience the breathtaking Amazon sunrise and sunsets in a vibrant display of colors and sounds.

Morphosapi: A butterfly garden located in the community of San Rafael, where you can see a great variety of butterfly species and their distinctive colours and shapes.

Cooking & Cockail Class: Back on the boat, participate in a cooking class offered by the experienced chef.

Iquitos Amazon Tour Itinerary

DAY 1 | SATURDAY: ARRIVAL IN IQUITOS

Once in Iquitos, a transportation service will take you to the river port to board the Rivers & Forest Expeditions cruise. Upon arrival, you will be welcomed with a complimentary cocktail, and after a safety talk, enjoy lunch.

In the afternoon, visit the native community of Kukama and learn about their customs, ancestral traditions, their music and dances. Return to the cruise for a well-deserved rest, and during the afternoon participate in a cocktail class with the experienced bartender. Enjoy dinner at the end of the day.

DAY 2 | SUNDAY: MONKEY ISLAND–YAGUA COMMUNITY

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Monkey Island, an animal rescue centre. Here, find a paradise where different species of monkeys and other animals are rescued, rehabilitated and reinserted into their natural habitat.

Return to the boat for lunch. During the afternoon, visit the Yagua native community, where the local leader will kindly welcome you and show you around. Put your aim into practice with the launch of´pucuna´, a blowgun that local inhabitants still use to hunt their food.

Before leaving, participate in a planting ceremony, collaborating with the reforestation of the jungle. Back on the boat, participate in a cooking class offered by the experienced chef. After dinner, a local shaman will visit the ship to perform a ritual and bless the rest of the trip.

DAY 3| MONDAY: ORELLANA VILLAGE–PIRANHA FISHING

After breakfast, disembark in the town of Orellana, a historical area explored since the 16th century. Once in the Plaza, the guide will share the exciting stories and legends of the community.

Later, board the auxiliary boat to spend a pleasant morning fishing one of the best-known inhabitants of the jungle: the piranha. Then, return to the cruise for lunch while sailing back to the Yagua community.

Enjoy the afternoon free to rest and appreciate the surroundings. Try cocktails made with local ingredients and flavours and have dinner during the afternoon.

DAY 4 | TUESDAY: LOCAL MARKET – BUTTERFLY GARDEN

Start the day early to appreciate the stunning Amazon sunrise. After that, take a short excursion to the picturesque village of Indiana. Visit its market and discover exotic fruits and the catch of the day. Return to the cruise for breakfast.

Then, arrive at Morphosapi, a butterfly garden located in the community of San Rafael, where you can see a great variety of butterfly species and their distinctive colours and shapes. Return to the boat for lunch, while the cruise advances to the Nanay River.

During the afternoon, go out in the auxiliary ship to appreciate the magical sunset over the waters of the Momón River. After dinner, go up to the third deck for a farewell toast of this memorable tour.

DAY 5| WEDNESDAY: IQUITOS

Upon arrival at the port, disembark the cruise. Once on land, you will be transferred to the Manatee Rescue Center, a space for manatee´s rehabilitation and reintegration into nature, and conservation as a form of education. After this exciting visit, you will be taken to the airport for your departure from the city.
